This was a fun little garden to make the outdoor space of a new-build garden work for the family. We dealt with the slope by introducing two levels, making any drop safe with built-in raised beds. The upper patio works for family dining, and it next to a play area for the kids. The lower section of lawn is big enough for fun and games – or a rare opportunity to lounge in the sun uninterrupted – and the curvy path not only provides access from house to garage and the main patio but is wide enough to be perfect for scooters and bikes.
Trees were planted along the back fence line to increase privacy and as with many of my gardens a 12v remote-controlled lighting system was installed to extend the value of the garden not just into warm dusky evenings but also as a view from the house during the colder months.
